Prof. M. Hamed Farooqi

MD, FACP, FRCP, FACE, FRSPH
Dr. Farooqi received his Internal Medicine training in New York and then did his Endocrine Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is US Board Certified both in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, the American College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians, UK.
His passions include
teaching. He has won multiple awards for teaching while serving as an Associate
Professor at the University of South Florida. He has been a faculty member at
Thomas Jefferson University and Harvard Medical School. At present, he is an
Adjunct Professor at the Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Health Sciences as
well as the Dubai Medical College. Initially he joined the Joslin Diabetes
Center Affiliate in Florida and worked there for a decade as the Medical
Director. He established and operated a highly successful Joslin affiliate in
Safety Harbor, Florida. In 2008, he led the Joslin team that set up the state-of-the-art
Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Dubai Health Authority, now renamed as the
Dubai Diabetes Center, one of the largest in the public sector in the UAE,
which he stills leads.
Dr. Farooqi has been an
invited speaker at various Health Forums internationally and has helped design and
conduct global diabetes education programs for physicians as a steering
committee member. He has published many articles and serves as a reviewer or
member of the editorial board of various international journals. Currently he
is focused on telehealth using remote patient monitoring technology and
cognitive computing models to predict outcomes leading to personalized diabetes
management.
